Welcome to Greenovation

Hey yall, and welcome to my blog the Greenovation. This is a passion project dedicated to highlighting the awesome and inspiring work carried out by people primarily in Bali, Indonesia, to save the environment.

Over the past few decades environmental concerns have become more and more prominent in the public discourse, but governments and human habits more often than not impede the implementation of positive and sustainable solutions for many of our environmental issues.

The people featured in these interviews have all done amazing work in their communities, and have in many cases enacted real policy-level change.

I honestly believe that real change is multi-faceted, and requires all of us to play our part no matter how small. We must also not become complacent, and always reevaluate our own lives and our communities to ensure we are able to identify and implement small and large-scale solutions to contemporary environmental concerns.

The focus on community-level solutions is very important to me, as I believe in many places governments are simply unable to identify and enact positive change on their own. Governments' efforts lean heavily towards macro-level solutions, by implementing blanket policies and programs that try to tackle problems on a large scale. They need their communities to identify problems and solutions specific to their situation. Governments need us to be proactive and to step in where they are unable or unwilling, so that they may provide support that is tailored to each community.

Over time as this blog grows we will expand our content beyond Indonesia, but Bali is a great place to start. There is something unique about Balinese culture that really lends itself to community action. The Balinese are a community-driven people, and Bali has proven itself over the past few years to be an excellent test lab for sustainability solutions that are applicable across the South-East Asia region.
